Ready to Propose but Ring Possibly Too Small?! Let’s Talk Engagement Rings!
Hey everyone! 💍
So, the big moment has finally arrived: you’re ready to pop the question! Heart racing, excitement building, you’ve picked out the perfect ring… or maybe not? There’s always that dreaded moment of doubt: What if the ring doesn’t fit?
The Dilemma: Ring Size Anxiety
It’s totally normal to feel a little anxious about sizing. Whether you’re trying to keep the element of surprise or simply forgot to sneak a peek at their jewelry collection, concerns about the fit can throw a wrench into your proposal plans.
But before you start to spiral, let’s chat about a few things.
1. The Magic of Resizeable Rings
Did you know many rings can be resized? Understanding the ring’s material and structure can help alleviate some of that anxiety. For instance, gold and platinum can generally be resized more easily than tungsten or titanium. So if you’re worried, remember that oftentimes a good jeweler can work their magic post-proposal!
2. Padding with a Temporary Solution
If you find yourself in a pinch, consider buying a temporary sizing solution. Ring size adjusters can help hold the ring in place until you can get it resized. Many people are surprised at how effective these can be!
3. Keep in Mind: Love Over Size!
At the end of the day, it’s really about the love and commitment behind the ring, not about perfect sizing. If your partner is in love with the ring AND the idea of getting engaged, they may be more than willing to resize it later!

If she’s the same as you or a little bit smaller, then it might fit! Just propose to her and see what happens. If you get it wrong, then buy her the dope on amazon
The size of your fingers can differ when they are warmer or colder. If it barely fits you it will probably fit her!
Don’t stress! Even if its the wrong size I’m sure your girlfriend will completely understand and you can get it resized! If she hasn’t told you her ring size it can be pretty hard to guess but I’m certain she’ll understand!
What a beautiful ring ❤️ So elegant. Echo all the other comments above but just wanted to show the ring some love too!
Awww Austen & Blake! That’s where my ring’s from. Great choice! And my prediction is that it’ll fit fine 🙂
Ahh don’t get a dupe!! Nearly everyone has to get their ring resized for the same reason. My jeweler even had an idea of my size but it was still a bit too big. If you guys really have similar ring sizes you should be fine!!
The difference between a ring fitting me or not is a quarter size. I can comfortably wear 5.75-6.5 depending on the design, I went with 5.75 for my engagement ring because I wanted to go with zero tilt or spin and it’s perfect. 5.5 fits over my finger on the ring sizer but I suspect wouldn’t fit in the design of my ring.
If she’s your size or a touch smaller, it’ll fit her if. I often leave my ring off for 30 mins after waking up because my fingers sometimes swell a little over night and if I put it on right away some days I’d have to force it.
Your absolute worst case scenario is a little laugh and a joke about how you thought her fingers were even more delicate than they are, put it on her pinky, and tell her the jeweler can easily resize it. My fiancé proposed with a temporary setting due to a very funny story, he was nervous but we both had a good laugh and he absolutely loves telling it now.
Also: the ring is gorgeous!
Don’t stress OP. She will be so happy regardless of if it fits exactly or not. It would be a shame to propose with a dupe, when you chose such a lovely ring.
It’s beautiful and good luck! For what it’s worth, my husband proposed with his great grandmother’s ring. She was a TINY person, and I am no where near that haha it wss a size 4, and my finger is a size 10! He proposed with it anyways and said “if you like the ring, we can try to get it resized” so that’s what we did. We bought a cheap costume CZ ring as a placeholder until we got the ring back (thankfully they could actually size it up that much) and it has been great ever since. I think it’s okay if it doesn’t quite fit immediately, just go in with a plan in case it doesn’t.
This is so beautifully classy. ✨ ❤️
You could buy a dupe on Amazon but what if that doesn’t fit either? This might not fit on her ring finger but might fit on a different finger… just propose and resize it after.
It’s similar to mine. It’s beautiful. Congratulations
I definitely wouldn’t stress about it !
She is going to be so happy whether it fits or not !
If not , you guys go together and resize
Comparison is the thief of joy . The ring is a formality. Marry the woman and bust your ass hard to buy a better ring down the line
The ring is beautiful! Just a tip in case it’s a little tight and needs to be resized. (Certainly doesn’t apply if it’s really small…) But, Windex will easily allow it to slip right on and off until it can be resized.
Don’t worry. I had to get my now wife’s ring resized but to be fair in my country we use letters and in hers numbers so it was bound to happen 🙃
She will be able to squeeze it on in the worst case so I wouldn’t worry about it. If proposing outside it will definitely fit if her fingers are cold!
No such thing! She will love it! And you can ALWAYS upgrade
I wouldn’t waste money on a dupe unless it’s absolutely tiny. Btw where is this design from, it’s so lovely
Just propose with this ring anyways. If it fits or not, well you’ll have to get it resized anyways. Its the gesture, the proposal, the promise of wanting to spend the rest of your life with your person.
The ring is the cherry on top. So don’t worry, propose anyways and it will go amazingly ❤️
I love it! I love when the man can actually pick it without the woman saying I need it to be this big , look like Taylor swifts( which I’m seeing more of now) or it’s too small! This ring is very beautiful and not gaudy screaming I am high maintenance and about my ring
What an elegant and timeless ring!!!
don’t stress!! we were hiking when my man proposed to me and it did not fit lol 😂 and even after it was still a little snug, so when we got back from our trip we took it to the jeweler and he resized it! had it done same day!
that ring is so stunning!!! congrats to you both 💗
I’d be over the moon! It’s beautiful!
lol stop. my now fiance had this issue. the jeweller unfortunately didn’t have my size (4) at the time but he still proposed with the ring (6) that was too big on me. i had to wait 6 weeks until my actual ring size came in. my ring looks like this but in white gold. i love it. i’m sure she would love it too!

Congratulations! Fingers crossed it’ll fit, I’m betting it will! Beautiful ring, sending wishes for many happy years ahead!
Wait until after the proposal and then bring your fiancé and the ring on her finger and they will resize it! I had to do that with my now wife’s rings (both the engagement and the weddings band had to be resized down)
No need to get a dupe this is a beautiful ring!
Congratulations on your upcoming proposal and wedding! The ring is absolutely gorgeous!
When my hubby and I got married, we had his ring sized before the ceremony. However, during the ceremony, I couldn’t get his ring on his finger!! I twisted, pushed, pulled, and panicked. Our Pastor made a joke asking if anyone had any lotion or baby oil on them. I finally got it on but, to this day, we still aren’t sure why it got stuck. In the 34 years since our wedding, this has never happened again.
Sending you my warmest wishes!
It is SO pretty! Good luck OP! Keep us posted on how it goes!
It’s a beautiful ring, I’m sure she’ll love it.
It is so gorgeous! 😍
To echo others, temperature matters lol. My ring fits normally when I’m not at work, in normal temps. But when I am at work, it is about little too big because our office AC is set to 64 24/7 lol.
So glad it fit her…but I am confused as to why the jeweler told you they can only size it once. What happens when she gains or loses weight over the rest of her lifetime? It can’t be sized?
When I saw the title I was worried you were talking about diamond size and was relieved when that wasn’t the case. Some people get hung up on that and it’s silly. Beautiful ring and I’m sure you two are a great couple. 👭
Anyway, when I got married the jeweler told us that if the ring didn’t fit at the ceremony that was common because you’re nervous and whatever else. He said don’t force it, because you don’t want to tear up each other’s knuckles. I feel like the same is true here. If it has to be resized, so be it, just don’t try to force it. Just put it on her pinky or halfway down her ring finger that day and then get it resized. Whether or not the ring fits the day you propose is irrelevant, she’s going to love the ring and she loves you, that’s all that matters. The rest is just semantics.

This reminds me so much of my ring!!!! I love the elegant simplicity- truly a timeless piece that will never go out of style. I’m sure it will fit fine and I she will love it!!!!
Should have gotten one big stone instead of three small ones.

That middle diamond DC right there, is only a quarter carat. My husband use that one little diamond to propose to me when I was 18 I am now 45. Over the years I added two more stones to the ring. Still keeping my original diamond because it’s mine. But I’ve also added a diamond wedding band to go around the marquis as well as a diamond anniversary band to go on the other side of the marquis diamond it’s not the size of the ring that matters. It’s what YOU chose and you could afford for her. If you decide you wanna upgrade or she wants to upgrade later, she can add diamonds to her current ring.
It’s beautiful and classic! Great choice!
