  • Gemstone Choices: Some stones are more durable than others. Which gems do you prefer for their beauty and robustness?

  • Choosing a Setting: Have you found that certain settings hold up better to daily wear while still looking stunning? Share your experiences!

Show Us Your Rings!

As this is a community rooted in appreciation for engagement rings, let’s inspire one another! Post pictures of your rings—let’s celebrate their beauty while discussing security measures. Perhaps your ring is designed in a way that minimizes risk, or you’ve personalized a protective setting that combines style with safety.

Moving Forward Together

You have a cathedral and a gallery rail, what’s the worry?

That’s extremely secure. Get it inspected once a year and you’re unlikely to ever have a problem.

Just get it inspected 1-2 times a year. Plus they usually give it a good cleaning when they inspect so it’s like a treat to have it all sparkly and new again 🙂

Your stone looks secure! Annual inspection and cleaning by your jeweler is never a bad idea, especially if you are concerned about a secure diamond. One thing you can do at home is a sound test: hold the ring up to your ear and shake it. If you hear any noise at all that indicates an even slightly loose stone, then it’s time to immediately have the prongs looked at.

You can buy a ring setting that has more prongs. Doesn’t have to be fancy. I also suggest to have your ring checked every 6 months. Most jewelry stores offer this service. If you know what store the ring was from the better bc they offer services like this for free.

I think it’s secure enough, but for peace of mind, I definitely recommend getting an insurance policy on any expensive ring/jewelry. I have one through State Farm and it’s not that expensive.

I just had a convo with a jeweler whose rings start around $30k, he does 4 prongs on almost all of his designs and told us there’s zero chance the stone will fall out, especially if you have them checked once a year. He recommends double prongs on stones over 8ct.
If your ring is from a reputable jeweler and good quality, which it seems to be, I wouldn’t worry at all. But I would get insurance anyway, for all possible scenarios, but mainly loss.

Side note: your ring is gorgeous, I’m having my stone put into a very similar cathedral setting, this low profile is so pretty. Congratulations! 🥰

Your ring is beautiful ! Tou have a gallery rail and a cathedral setting you should definitely be fine. Just get it regularly checked at a jeweler and you’ll be all set they’ll be able to tell you if anything seems loose or wonky over time! Don’t wear it to bed or to the gym/dishes/anything too manual but also recommend having a designated ring dish in certain spots so you always have a spot to put it and don’t mindlessly set it down somewhere and drive yourself nuts on where you put it you know?!

Four claws is fine, I’d be out at least seven figures by now in replacement stones if they weren’t. People like to talk big with no real world experience except “they heard someone lost a stone out of a four claw setting…” have it checked and cleaned every year or two and you’ll be fine

That’s a very secure setting. If you hit it on something and it your worried or the prongs feel like they are catching, take it to a jeweler and have them check it. Most jewelers offer free steam cleanings and prong checks so take it in every few months to get it checked out and cleaned up.
