Can Someone Tell Me If I’m Crazy? A Sparkling Dive into Engagement Rings

Hey everyone! 🌟

I’m reaching out to this incredible community because, honestly, I’m in a bit of a whirlwind of emotions and decisions regarding engagement rings, and I can’t help but wonder—am I a little crazy for how deeply this has all affected me?

Let me explain!

As many of you know, engagement rings aren’t just pieces of jewelry; they symbolize love, commitment, and the promise of a future together. But in today’s world, where Instagram and Pinterest fill our feeds with endless beautiful examples, I’ve found myself caught between overwhelming choices and heartfelt significance. So, in the spirit of sharing, here are my thoughts:

  1. The Ring as an Extension of Me: I recently found a stunning ring that feels like it embodies not just my style but also the essence of my relationship. The thought of wearing something that reflects our story makes me feel a little… extra? Should I be worried about that?

  2. The Pressure is Real: With so many options—different styles, cuts, and settings—I sometimes feel pressure to choose “the perfect one.” I think about how much thought others put into their choices, which leaves me wondering if I’m putting too much emphasis on this ring. Is it insane to feel this way?

  3. Engagement Ring Envy: Let’s be honest—who doesn’t love scrolling through gorgeous ring photos? But does that spark jealousy or comparison within our hearts? I often catch myself feeling envious of the unique details found in others’ rings while wondering if my choice will even match up.

  4. Budget vs. Emotion: We all know that engagement rings can cost a pretty penny. Balancing expectations while staying within budget is a real struggle. Am I flawed if I want a beautiful ring but also want to be smart with our finances?

  5. Community Connection: Sharing my ring and its story in this community has really resonated with me. I see others expressing their journeys to find “the one,” and it makes me feel less alone in this struggle. But does that mean I’m crazy for investing so much time and thought into it?

Before I share my own engagement ring, I want to open the floor to you all. Have any of you felt the same pressure, joy, or particular emotional attachment towards your engagement rings? Have you ever questioned your sanity during the process of selecting one? Let’s discuss the gems, the settings, the stories behind our choices, and the road we took to get there!

And now, here’s a peek at my engagement ring! ✨ [insert photo here]

I can’t wait to hear what you all think! Am I crazy for how deeply I’m affected by all of this, or is it just a natural part of this journey? Drop your thoughts, stories, and, of course, your rings! 💍💖

Let’s embrace the beauty of this community and navigate these feelings together! 🥂

This is pretty normal for unheated sapphire of that origin. Whether or not you like it is a personal choice but nothing about it looks wrong.

It matches the photo and is as described. Did your fiancé say she wanted a sapphire ring? If so you may need to specify what she means by that because there’s a million types of ways a sapphire can be colored

It might be the lighting and magnification, but it looks fairly included. Can you see the inclusions when you look at it, or is it eye-clean?

Are you sure she wants a sapphire this color? I know Montana sapphires can be more green than traditional sapphires, but my concern is that unless she asked for a lighter shade with green she might be expecting a darker or cornflower blue shade.

From the pics I’m not loving the quality of this stone. The color is nice if that is what she wants, but the clarity doesn’t look great in the pics. It’s also far more green than the one pictured last.

I might be biased bc i have a montana sapphire but this is beautiful! Sapphires (esp montana) look different in different lights. They can even look different based on what part of the world youre in, due to multiple factors. Most teal or blue-green sapphires look bluest outdoors and slightly green indoors. This is normal and what I think the ring you purchased is displaying, as the photos look like they were taken indoors. Try looking at it in natural light outside and see what you think! I personally love it.

If you were hoping for something more blue, then you should continue your search. This stone looks sort of blue green. It is pretty but if it’s not what you want, keep looking.

I’d be more concerned about the quality of the stone. Does it have a ton of inclusions, or are there scratches on the surface of the stone? It could just be the angle/lighting of the picture, but it looks cloudy to me

That’s exactly what a Montana sapphire looks like. I will say it’s poor clarity though with that birthmark front and center. I would be more pissy about that honestly. The color is spot on and I adore Montana sapphire! If she asked for Montana sapphire it’s perfect. However as others have mentioned, sapphire…. Sapphires are a whole ass category of so many variables. Sapphires can be a deep blue like princess Diana’s ring or even pink.

Now if she said she wants Kate Middleton ring, this is unfortunately not the right color.

Depends on what your future finance would like. I personally love a unique ring and i actually love inclusions, so i find this ring to be beautiful. The stone itself is more on the green side so at first i thought it was a colored diamond. If you’re unsure I’d reach out to friends who could get some insight for you on what she would like.

    u/HitlerIsVeryBad – this is a beautiful ring!

For your questions: As long as your future fiancée wants a Montana sapphire, you’ve made an excellent choice. Montana sapphires come in a huge range of colors, lots of blue-green tones. They will photograph and look slightly different shades in various lighting. This one has more dominant green in your photos than blue but it is a gorgeous stone. And it is one of a kind – which I think is so much more special when it comes to engagement rings.

It’s also EXTREMELY rare to find a flawless Montana sapphire, they will nearly all have some inclusions and the visibility to the naked eye will vary. A flawless Montana sapphire over 1ct would be substantially more expensive. I have a Montana sapphire and it was more expensive due to the carat weight and inclusions being minimal to the naked eye. Anyone questioning the cost of the entire ring isn’t factoring in how much gold has gone up in the last year or the fact that it becomes much more difficult to facet a Montana sapphire and have it be a larger carat weight. Most stones found that are facet grade are less than 1ct.

Hi Sapphires come in many different colours this is a Montana sapphire & leaning to the correct colour.
Which sapphire colour has she mentioned in passing? There are Ceylon sapphires (more expensive than std blue), Sapphire blue/s, Padparadscha sapphire pink, & many in between. On yr 1st pic the stone seems to have a very large inclusion on the top or is it a reflection of a ceiling pendant/light fitting. When in doubt yourself, please check every detail. If this means asking yr fiancée which “sapphire” colour she prefers. Good luck. Best wishes from Australia 🦘🐨🇦🇺💐

All blue-green Montana sapphires will lean green indoors unless heat treated. Even my blue Madagascar sapphire looks green inside because it is not heat treated.

If you are looking for more blue a heat treated blue Montana sapphire would do the trick. Earth’s Treasury has a bunch of them and they do beautiful custom work. They could make a similar design.

If you’re looking for a not heated treated natural sapphire, Sri Lankan sapphires are usually a richer blue color.

My Montana peacock sapphire is more on the green-blue spectrum. It can look everywhere from the exact green of my eyes (which is what made my husband love it even though he was initially heartbroken that he thought I would be disappointed that it wasn’t bluer) to deep blue, to almost black in some light. The wonderful thing about sapphires is the beautiful array of colors they can be in my opinion.

Mine is a 5.05 ct untreated Montana Blue-Green (peacock) sapphire from Era Gem. I highly highly recommend them to anyone for sapphire engagement rings, vintage jewelry, and they have a stunning selection of antique diamonds in rarer cuts.

I say this to make the point that it’s genuinely lovely and I would talk to her and see how she feels about it. While you may be thrown off by it not being what you expected it may very well be her dream stone.

Photo of my lovely. Literally taken seconds apart. Taken inside my jeep on a sunny day. The top photo was taken with my hand resting on my leg and the top was taken with my hand up near my stereo closer to the front window. Just showing you how absolutely beautiful these sapphires are with their color spectrums.

It looks grey, with lots of visible inclusions. Just my honest opinion. 🙈💎

Is it natural or lab created. It does make a difference. Like with anything, what does this ring symbolize for you?

It’s so pretty! It’s a little more green than blue, but it’s so unique!

It’s a gorgeous ring and I have a sapphire which is the blue colour most people would think of when you say sapphire. This one is more aquamarine blue. Blue is my favourite colour so I love your ring

I’m focused on the flaw in this stone. I like it otherwise, it’s a bit wishy washy the colour though.

It looks a bit more green than green-blue. If she wants a completely blue sapphire, try for a different one. If not, it’s a beautiful ring and she will be very happy ☺️

It does have a greenish hue, but it is a blue-green Montana sapphire, so it’s perfect. Love the setting too! Looks a little vintage somehow, which I love!

It looks like a seafoam blue-green color to me. It’s very beautiful and reminds me of the beach.

It’s not a true, royal blue color.

Did she ask for a specific *shade* of blue? Blue can mean a lot of things. Maybe ask her for an example picture and we can help you figure out if it’s a match.

The obvious inclusion is the bigger issue, imo.

I have a Montana sapphire from Anueva! They change color in different lighting. I’ll add pics for proof. I think it’s an amazing quality and your ring looks great!

Does you fiancée specifically want this color? Or a Montana sapphire? I love sapphires but prefer cornflower blue and even cobalt. I also think the gold setting here brings out the greenish tint.

Hi! My husband got me a ring from Anueva and I ADORE it! great jeweler choice. ring is gorgeous but question. did she want a deep blue or a minty blue. what others are saying about Montana sapphires not being true blue is wrong. I have a Montana sapphire in mine and it’s a true blue. I also have fam with color blindness. happy to help you out in messages if you want links to Anueva rings that are more “true blue”. but really each person is different. if she wanted minty, this ring fits the bill and looks exactly like the pictures. anyways, if it’s not what she wanted and you need true blue help, shoot me a message. I’m VERY familiar with her site as my husband custom designed my ring from her!
