The Allure of the Oblong Ring: A Unique Twist on Engagement Jewelry
Engagement rings are often symbols of love, commitment, and personal style. While many opt for classic round stones or traditional settings, the oblong ring presents an intriguing alternative that begs to be explored. In this post, we invite you to share your own engagement rings—whether you’ve chosen a striking oblong design or something entirely different—and engage in discussion about the various facets of these beautiful pieces.
What is an Oblong Ring?
Before we dive into the discussion, let’s clarify what makes an oblong ring special. Often featuring elongated shapes such as ovals, emerald cuts, or marquises, these rings can bring an air of elegance and uniqueness to the table. Their longer profiles can emphasize the delicacy of the wearer’s fingers and can be quite flattering, making them a standout choice for those looking to express their individuality.
Gemstone Choices: Beyond the Diamond
When it comes to oblong rings, the choice of gemstone can dramatically alter the aesthetics and emotional resonance of the piece. While diamonds are a classic choice, colored stones like sapphires, emeralds, or even fancy colored diamonds can add an unexpected yet striking twist. Share your experiences: did you opt for a unique stone? How did the color complement the elongation of the shape?
Cut and Setting: Making a Statement
The cut of the stone is equally important in elevating the ring’s overall look. Oblong cuts tend to showcase the stone’s clarity and brilliance in a unique way. Additionally, the setting plays a crucial role in how the ring appears on the finger. From classic prong settings to modern halo designs, the possibilities are endless. What setting did you choose for your oblong ring? Was it influenced by personal aesthetic, ethical considerations, or a blend of both?

That definitely doesn’t look right what the heck! I’d be complaining. A jeweller should be able to shape it back to a circle. Does the listing say anything about it not being circular?
I agree with you, normally rings are round.
Definitely not normal, and they should fix it.
Is that the box it came in? Looks like it got absolutely battered in shipping
OP could you please put the ring on yr finger & show us? The hexagonal box is throwing the shape off & then we can see clearly for you? If it’s out of whack you need as much proof as possible, what is the stone cut too please? Best wishes from Australia 🦘🐨🇦🇺💐
Even the box is messed up. It looks like this was crushed in transit. Definitely reach out to the seller
This looks damaged and bent out of round.
It looks like the box got crushed in transit – not the seller’s fault, but they may need to file an insurance claim and possibly have you send it back to them for reshaping
That’s what happens to rings that have been worn for long periods of time.
Was it used (antique/vintage/pre-loved?) or new? My ring isn’t a perfect circle after being worn for years and I feel like that could be the case.
if it’s previously owned when they size a ring down it turns into an oval shape because they never remove metal they just add it elsewhere. where was this ordered from? it looks like a resizing was done to it before and done poorly
A jeweler can hammer that back round within a minute.
UPDATE: I’m going to send the ring back to the seller and they’re going to make it right.
Hmm, I wish people would stop using bubble mailers. It is the same cost in postage to send a 6x6x2 cardboard box as a bubble mailer. And one of them is recyclable 🙂
Yes, you should contact them. Explain the situation. Etsy offers a shipping guarantee for orders under $250.
plus the seller should learn their lesson and chose better packaging. And offer to replace this.
Plus, if the seller cares at all, they would want to know this happened. If it was a ring I sold, I’d want the buyer to let me know!
Even the box is dented..
I think it got crushed in transit cause the box is messed up too
Nah I’d demand a refund for that because wtf. It might not be noticeable when you wear it but if it bends easily, the quality can’t be great.
