I Designed My Own Ring from My Grandmaโs ๐๐
Hey everyone! Iโm beyond excited to share something incredibly special with you all today. Recently, I took a leap and created my own engagement ring using some beautiful pieces from my grandmaโs vintage jewelry collection. ๐
The Inspiration Behind the Design
When I first thought about my engagement ring, I knew I wanted something that wasnโt just a piece of jewelry, but a heartfelt tribute to the strong women in my life. My grandma had a collection of rings, each with its own story and charm. After going through the pieces, I found an old diamond that sparkled with a nostalgia I couldnโt resist. It was the perfect centerpiece for my custom design!
The Process: Turning Dreams into Reality
Creating a custom ring was more challenging than I expected but in the most rewarding way possible. Hereโs a quick breakdown of my journey:
-
Choosing the Gem: I picked that stunning diamond from my grandma’s collection. Its unique shape and history felt just right.
 -
Sketching the Design: I worked closely with a jeweler to draft my ideas. From the band width to the setting style, every detail was carefully thought out.
 -
Setting & Metal Choices: After much deliberation, I chose a vintage-inspired setting with intricate filigree work. I decided on platinum since I loved its durability and classic look.
 -
Final Reveal: The moment I saw the finished ring, I was overwhelmed with emotion. It was everything I envisionedโand more!

A Ring with a Story
What I love most about my engagement ring is that it carries the love and legacy of my grandma with it. Every time I look at it, I remember her strength and grace. ๐

I believe itโs about 2ct on a 6.75 finger! Could have gone with a 6.5 but my hands swell a lot so I went bigger!
Love this. So beautiful! Great job ๐๐ป๐๐ป
I love how supportive she was! What a special tribute! Congrats!!
Beautiful! So lovely that you used her ring, and she was a part of that process ๐
Beautiful. Iโd probably do an open wedding band.ย
OMg, I love it! In addition to the sentiment, it is classic looking, but not in the popular style, if that makes sense?
If a band would fit underneath, I would consider two narrow bands to fit on either side of the band, thickening it and giving it more of a โwedding setโ vibe. If you like the idea but they wouldnโt fit flush, have your jeweler add to the band but not with a full circleโฆ I have no idea of the proper terminology for what Iโm suggesting, but you know what I mean?
What a beautiful tie to a beautiful lady.
She will live forever in your heart and on your finger. I love that
This is a stunning ring! Good job!
I love it
I just want to say thank you all so much for the sweet comments! I know she wouldโve loved it, but being that she was a HUGE jewelry buff, hearing that others find it beautiful too warms my heart because I know that wouldโve made her so happy that others admired it too!!!
Beautiful โจ โค๏ธ
Absolutely stunning!!
This is so precious. You designed a beautiful ring. You are so blessed.
Wow!!! Incredible
Wowwwww
Oh my goodness WOW!! You did such a a fantastic job with the ring ๐ That is insanely gorgeous!
WOWOWOWZAAAA gorgeous!
I also wouldnโt get a band for a ring like this! Beautiful
Itโs so pretty! Congrats on the sentiment and on your engagement!
If it was mine, I would probably go with two curved gold bands on either side, like what you tried on or attached photos of. I think the symmetry of two bands would frame/center the ring more.
A beautiful unique piece. I love it
Gorgeous!
It looks like a sunflower โค๏ธ I agree a plain contour band
Wow gorgeous!! And how special ๐ญ!! You all did so well. I swear thereโs nothing better than having an heirloom gifted to you. I agree no diamonds on the wedding band. I also think it would the away from the magnificence of the engagement ring. I love picture 16 too right with simple gold V and soldered together so it stays in alignment is definitely best imho. I didnโt do my rings right away and honestly didnโt even know it was a thing ๐คทโโ๏ธ lol ๐ When I went in for my cleaning they were like oh honey we can make it so they arenโt aligned for free. ๐ฎ ummm YES PLEASE ๐ฉ my OCD wants to jump off a cliff already ๐. Anywho congrats doll ๐ซถ
Gorgeous and I love the significance! I love the plan v or one with something just where the gap would be by the edges (like where it dips for your sunburst) vs leaves all the way across.
It is beautiful โค๏ธ

I think itโs perfect without a W band.
What a gorgeous collaboration!
Just a suggestion from someone who also works with messy stuff all day- I often like to wear my simple wedding band by itself.
Beautiful and meaningful!!
This is ๐ฅ
I love the open band idea. I think it will highlight the beautiful, meaningful ring!
