✨ Is it time to convert my ring into a pendant?✨

✨ Should I Have My Ring Changed to a Pendant? ✨

Hello, engagement ring enthusiasts! 💍

As someone who adores sharing and celebrating the beauty of engagement rings, I find myself at a crossroads, and I’d love your insights. Recently, I’ve been contemplating whether to transform my beloved engagement ring into a pendant.

Let me give you a bit of background: my engagement ring, with its stunning [insert details about the ring: cut, stone, setting], has always held a special place in my heart. But over time, I’ve started to feel like it would get more wear as a pendant, allowing me to showcase it in a new way while keeping the memories alive.

Reasons I’m Considering the Change:

  1. Versatility: A pendant can be more versatile for everyday wear. I can easily pair it with various outfits, whether casual or dressy, adding a touch of elegance without the formality of a ring.

  2. Sustainability: Reshaping the ring into a pendant seems like a great way to give it new life. Rather than letting it sit in a jewelry box, I can wear it with pride.

  3. Sentimental Value: Wearing my engagement ring close to my heart (literally) could symbolize the love and commitment it represents, making me feel connected to those cherished moments every day.

Potential Concerns:

  1. Value: What happens to the ring’s sentimental value once it’s converted to a pendant? Will I still feel the same connection when it’s off my finger?

  2. Loss of Tradition: There’s something classic and traditional about wearing engagement rings on fingers. Would changing it to a pendant mean losing a piece of that connection or history?

  3. Style: Will it still look as beautiful as a pendant? I’m worried about the aesthetic changes and whether it will blend with my existing jewelry collection.

Now, I’d love to hear from this wonderful community:

  • Have any of you made a similar transition? What was your experience?
  • What do you think about the idea of transforming an engagement ring into a pendant?
  • How do you feel about the trade-offs between sentimental value and practicality?

Feel free to share your thoughts, experiences, or even photos of your own modified pieces! And, of course, any advice on the best ways to go about this transition would be much appreciated. Let’s spark a dynamic discussion, and who knows, maybe I’ll find the inspiration I need to take the plunge!

Happy sharing! 💖✨

Okay this is GORgeous. I love the starbrite.
It would make a beautiful pendant! I think it definitely deserves to be seen & if you’d be more comfortable with that – I say go for it!

Id say go for a pendant, but promise us that you’ll wear this absolutely beauty daily! Way too pretty to be left in a box.

Also, gotta say, I get what you mean with moving/living somewhere where flashy rings/jewellery is frowned upon, but ngl, f***k the haters. It’s your life, live it to the fullest!

Just commenting to say my jaw dropped when I scrolled to your ring. Absolutely find the best way to wear it as this should not be sitting in a box. I don’t think this would ever leave my hand (or neck, or wherever you rework it to wear it).

Can you post the specs just so a girl can dream????

I personally love your ring! It’s art deco and vintage all in one. I agree, f the haters, they gonna hate but so what! It’s your ring and if you still love it then you should keep it as your ring. Also agree that it would make a beautiful pendant. It does suck is not getting the love it deserves, but the love you have for it is honestly the only thing that matters. I hope you’re happy with whichever decision you make ❤️

I made a 😮😮😮 face at this. This is freaking STUNNING. I live in the Midwest too, but I would wear this every chance I could. One of the prettiest rings I think I’ve ever seen.

I also live in the Midwest (MN) and have a flashy/heirloom type engagement ring. Wear the ring it’s positively gorgeous! If you wear it out in public and feel off about your surroundings flip the band up and pull your sleeves down. Tbh rings in the Midwest are pretty subtle but wearing it as a pendent to me is much more high risk and noticeable than on your finger.

I actually just had this exact conversation with a client last week. She inherited her grandmother’s engagement ring but never wore it because it felt too formal for her tech job in Minneapolis. We ended up making it into this gorgeous pendant that she wears literally every day now – way more than she ever wore the ring.

The key is thinking about your actual wardrobe and lifestyle. If you’re someone who wears necklaces regularly, then yeah, convert it. But if you’re like me and forget to put on jewelry half the time, you might just end up with a really expensive pendant sitting in the same box. One thing we suggest is trying it out first – get a cheap chain and literally tie your ring to it with some thread or fishing line. Wear it for a week and see if you actually like having it as a necklace. Sounds janky but it works.

Also consider keeping the original setting intact if possible. We’ve done conversions where we create a bail that attaches to the existing ring shank, so you can always convert it back later if you change your mind. Especially important if it’s a family piece or has sentimental value. The midwest thing is real though – i grew up in Ohio and anything bigger than a carat gets side-eye at the grocery store. But a nice pendant? Nobody bats an eye. Plus you can tuck it under your shirt when you want to be low key.

As a native SoCal girl, now heartland farm, you wear anything YOU love! You can’t anticipate or even care about others’ reactions- no one cares- truly. You do you! And good traditions and trends will follow.

    Wow …

Wait I mean that ring is terrible and you should send it to me immediately so that you no longer need to look at it.

I think it’s an amazing ring and would be an amazing pendent, so it is up to you.

Oh, I remember your ring from a post back in the day, it’s so stunning!

I feel that if the issue that it’s too flashy and feels unsafe, then it wouldn’t really make a difference as a pendant. I would probably keep it as a going out ring and get something more understated as an everyday ring.
