May We Have a Moment of Silence for My Ring? 💍
Hello, fellow gem enthusiasts and ring admirers! Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate a beloved piece of my jewelry collection: my engagement ring. As we all know, these rings aren’t just beautiful pieces of art; they carry stories, emotions, and memories that are unique to each of us. So, can we have a moment of silence for the brilliance, the sparkle, and the love that our rings symbolize?
The Beauty of Engagement Rings
For many, an engagement ring is often one of the most significant purchases in life—an emblem of love and commitment. Whether you’re sporting a classic solitaire or a trendy halo design, there’s no denying that engagement rings introduce an element of beauty and personal touch to our lives. So why not take a moment to celebrate its beauty?
Show Off Your Ring!
Let’s kick off this moment of silence by sharing the details of my engagement ring!
Description: My ring features a stunning cushion-cut diamond set in a delicate rose gold band. The diamond is ethically sourced and weighs approximately 1.5 carats. What I love most is how the rose gold beautifully complements the diamond’s sparkle, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
Story: This ring symbolizes not just the commitment between my partner and me, but also the journey we’ve taken to get there. We spent countless weekends visiting gem shows, learning about different cuts, settings, and the significance behind various gemstones. The ring is not just a piece of jewelry; it’s an emblem of our shared experiences and dreams for the future.

Ohhh I’m so sorry 😞 it’s so beautiful I love the purple band 💜
Life lesson: don’t put your valuable possessions in the same place you’d put your trash.
This might be a dumb question, but do most people take their rings off to put on lotion? Genuinely wondering, because I am not married yet but I wear rings daily and am wondering if I should be taking them off to apply lotion.
Also adding: your cat is precious!!
I’m so sorry this happened but please try and give yourself (and your partner) some grace, accidents happen. It sounds like you are both going through a difficult time. Hoping your ring will turn up! Either way, years from now, this will be one of those stories “remember when….” So sorry again!!
Geezzzz. That is rough. But on the bright side you have that beautiful kitty cat. 😍 That was a beautiful ring. 💍 I would have never thought of that arrangement but it gorgeous. I really hope it finds it’s way back to you.
Noooo!! I am so sorry for this incredibly stressful situation, especially while also navigating your partner’s father’s illness. Your ring is beautiful, and distinctive enough that hopefully the pawn shops can identify it easily if it ever shows up.
I’m so sorry! It’s an awful feeling to lose something so precious (regardless of price!), especially when we’re blaming ourselves for it. However, it sounds like you’re pretty blessed in the partner department ❤️ I’m hoping that you two will be able to eventually look back on this event, and have a laugh about it.
I’m sorry 🙁 you also have a beautiful cat
Your insurance should cover the loss
I looked at the picture and thought you had a cat named ring. So happy your cat is not dead.
For future endeavors, my mom always puts her rings on my brothers/dads hand when she’s putting lotion on. If she forgets to grab it back from them then they will give it back when they get uncomfortable because it doesn’t fit any of their hands. This will prevent you from setting it down in a precarious place and losing it
Oh honey, I’m sorry! And also glad you’ve chosen the right partner, given his lovely reaction.
This happened to me too! When I was pregnant and not wearing my rings my husband accidentally threw them away. I still miss this wedding set. So sorry that happened to you!
You should check local pawn shops. If someone found it looking for cans pawning it for quick cash is pretty decent odds.
I’m scared of this happening. I plan to ask for extra ring boxes from the jewelry and then buy more. I want to put one everywhere I could possibly take off my ring. The car, kitchen sink, bathroom sink, beside the bed, and anywhere else I can think of.
I’m so sorry. Something similar happened to me. The diamond fell out of mine, but happened to be in my pocket. I saved the diamond and the band for months in a baggie. I got it out one day up show someone, and set the baggie on the counter. Months later I realized it was gone. I can only someone (probably me) threw it away. I felt awful. Still have my wedding band, though, and I finally got a replacement this past summer. Ended up with a design I love so much, and yet I still have sentimental feelings about losing my original ring. Hang in there!
Have you checked every single inch of the car? It could have fallen when the trash was scooped….?
That pink nose I could cry
I’m so unbelievably sorry. It sounds like you and your partner are already under stress with his father’s illness; this situation just adds to the load you’re carrying.
I hope that beautiful kitty in the photo can provide some comfort 🫶
I don’t know how to edit the post for an update.
We arrived at the gas station. We were able to retrieve the bag from the dumpster and we dug through the entire contents piece by piece. Unfortunately, while we came across the other pieces of our trash, so we know for sure if was the right bag, there was no ring to be found. Unfortunately we also noticed a distinct lack of any sort of refundable cans or bottles, which we had also thrown out. Our assumption is that someone went through the trash for cans, and while doing so, came across my ring.
We visited the only 2 pawn shops in that town that are open today, but neither of them have seen it yet. I showed them a photo of the ring, and left them with a written description of it along with my contact info.
But at this point, I think it is probably gone forever. 🙁
My husband once lost his ring in the trash can of a bar bathroom and found it the next day by going back and asking to look through the trash. Don’t lose hope yet!
Good luck. I hope it’s still there!
Look up the route and call the gas station! Tell them what pump you were at and ask them to pull the trash and hold it for you!
I’m so sorry this happened, I hope by some miracle it turns up!
Did you not put it on your insurance?
I’m sorry, this happened to me once with my retainer. I had it wrapped up in a napkin and my dad threw it out
Uh what?!? Track it! Call your sanitation service, find the route and truck number, the locate and time they dump! They sometimes sort locations into grids of areas picked up. If you recognize the type of garbage bag you use. Don’t lose it! I’d be gutted.
