The Price of Gold Skyrocketed! What Does This Mean for Engagement Ring Trends? ππ
Hey Engagement Ring Enthusiasts! π
I can’t help but notice that the price of gold has taken off recently, and itβs got me pondering how this might impact our favorite symbol of love and commitment: the engagement ring! Whether weβre discussing classic solitaires or elaborate multi-stone settings, the gold price surge is definitely something to consider.
π° Gold Prices on the Rise
As many of you might have seen in the news, gold prices have skyrocketed recently, touching highs we havenβt seen in years. This raises a crucial question: how will this trend affect both current owners of gold rings and those looking to purchase new pieces?
-
Rethinking Materials: With the increase in gold prices, many jewelers might turn to alternative metals like platinum or palladium for their designs. We all love a stunning diamond on a beautiful band, but have you ever considered how other materials can shine just as brightly?
-
The Timeless Appeal: Despite fluctuations in price, gold has always held a unique allure. If you own a gold engagement ring, now is the perfect time to reflect on its sentimental and intrinsic value rather than just its market price.
-
Rising Costs for New Purchases: For those of you waiting to pop the question (or waiting for your partner to do so), be prepared for possibly higher prices in the engagement ring market. Is it worth it to wait for gold prices to stabilize? Why not explore colored stones or innovative settings that fit your budget?

Happy Posting!

There are many places that sell eternity, bands, or semi eternity bands.donβt know where you live, but my department store jewelry is reasonable.Even Walmart. And if you want a dupe, theyβre just as beautiful and sometimes easier to take care of esp.If you donβt care, if itβs real or not.
That style is gorgeous! Have you looked at any semi-eternity bands? You might find a similar look for less.
Iβm not sure if you are near NYC, but the diamond district (pretty close to time square) has so many jewelers that sell wedding bands and the prices are significantly lower than at your typical jeweler. A lot of the jewelers there sell to big retail stores, so the prices are much cheaper because you are buying direct and essentially cutting out the middleman.
I got a similar band in platinum from an antique shop for $850 a couple months ago

Is that Tiffany? You can get secondhand from a few retailers on eBay for 1/3-1/2 of the cost if the name brand matters to you.
Look for princess cut diamonds in a channel setting and go half eternity to make it cheaper. Lots of second hand ones ! Check out her RINGS highlight

Check out JC pennyβs website. I bought my fiancΓ©βs wedding band from there last week and the prices were really good. His 5mm platinum band was $800. You can definitely find this band for around $1000-1200
Get it from an indian/pakistani jeweller in either Chicago, NY,NJ, Dallas or cali. They will be able to make it custom at an affordable price

Check Costco!!!!
I have one of these from 2002 thatβs white gold and real diamonds. They were everywhere at that time for pretty low prices. Mine was about $300. You must be able to get a vintage one cheap given how common they are.
The same jeweler that we got my 3ct ring at quoted us more for my fiancΓ©s brushed gold wedding band!
If you’re wanting a cheaper option, maybe try sterling silver instead of gold. It’s not as durable as gold, but it’s still a great metal. There have been heirloom pieces made of sterling silver, so it can still last a lifetime. Silver can tarnish, so you may need to use a special cleaner for it, but it’s not too difficult to maintain. You can also reset the stones in gold some time in the future if prices ever come back down, or if you’re in a better place financially to afford it.

I just bought mine in June for $1800, white gold channel with 11 stones, lab diamonds and natural aquamarine. A local jeweler did it for us
Lab or natural? Either way youβre looking at $1000-1,700.
Word to the wise, do not get diamonds all the way around. My eternity band has caused me more trouble than any other piece of jewelry in my whole collection.
I strongly suggest that you get a half channel eternity band with a euroshank to prevent spinning.
Also, lab created diamonds could potentially cost less? Worth a look, but please please believe me about 360 diamond eternity bands, they’re a pain in the butt!!!
Edit: what do you think of [this ring?](https://www.ebay.com/itm/375858701050?_skw=channel+diamond+half+eternity+band+princess+white+gold+women&itmmeta=01K9WQK2JJEAQ7KYP9VW4KW2P1&hash=item5782eca2fa:g:~XMAAOSw7wNlXO7H&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAABAFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fvUdGQn5cmsOR65x3bLunJnCPSKcFYCHoNeQBuBhudPR6pfA8GNKA4r36IznxoSo0V7D0SjfoRKgwpjwy5RYIPLNQHy2zU7OwAAENd9tRsz1%2BqQrR7HQd%2FdYN4qzkM64e3i4O4O0lWplg38lccV95COZkWeTtP2izJ1mSmbysjSSs9Fl%2BWgshzWopGFvPnFAFJdUoEka5x293%2F8lrMyAFntJ47OpaDWMqPlkUymsP%2F7o2VMRuqNOKI5JD4N%2Fezh8544E0kWbBJIHtU1qT3TV3%2BjA9TwKkP%2BfTxmLOePQMtjPvclJhul0n13pDGzcC87n8%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9CpzJfPZg)
Look at Frank Darling Heirloom half eternity. I don’t know what your budget it but I think you can get something nearly identical from that picture for a decent price. You can swap out with lab or moissy too and that will bring the cost WAY down.
Very much a channel setting. The band of my engagement ring is similar – itβs more of an older more classic style, so you donβt really see it too often nowadays.
Read the comments. You can get that exact band in a lab diamond. can you see a difference between lab and natural? No. If you want it enough, y’all will research lab diamonds or moiss rings.
Channel set band. Definitely recommend Etsy and just reading reviews if you want a decent dupe. Just know this style of band/setting can be hard/annoying to resize (coming from someone who has a channel set band!).

My ring is channel set but rose gold, and it cost $700. Iβd shop around for a different jeweler because $3500 is insane.
ETA: itβs lab diamonds too. Labs can definitely be made small.
convincing fakes: italo.com
I am currently wearing this ring (in silver) purchased from Modern Gents, they also have it in gold. Super affordable, good quality.
This band absolutely should not cost $3,500!! Contact other local jewellers that are family owned and u will 100% get a way better price. This is ridiculous and marked up like crazy. Labs will also make it MUCH cheaper, before labs didnβt make a difference in smaller stones. But now they FOR SURE do.
Whatβs your budget? You can get a Channel set eternity or 1/2 eternity band for $500- $800

Look for a vintage one!! 100ways.com is where I got mine and it was $550 CAD for a half eternity platinum band.
channel set bands used to be super popular for wedding bands (not saying they are dated, they’re pretty timeless), so there’s a ton of second hand or vintage options that should be able to save you some money on it.

Here you go. π
There’s not that much gold in a ring… how much did the price change to make it unaffordable? Can’t be that much honestly… you may be getting scammed here.
Maybe try 10k gold. Whatever the carat, white gold is covered in rhodium anyway (unless you ask for unplated) – can’t see the difference and lower carat is more durable.Β
It’s a channel set eternity band. Most places have this design.Β
literally bought this band on Kuololit AliExpress
How about you share what the price is
It’s a channel set eternity / half-eternity band depending on if the stones go all the way around. As the other commenters have said – it’s a relatively easy to replicate setting so worth shopping around for different quotes in different carat gold or metals OR have a look at 2nd hand if you aren’t dead set on new! I believe channel settings were very popular in the 80s so plenty of gorgeous vintage pieces around. While still pricey, second hand gold generally shouldn’t command the same prices as new gold.
I have a kinda similar wedding band from Etsy! Itβs moissinate, been wearing it since 2023 and itβs held up perfectly. Sorry about the gold prices, Iβm shocked as someone who ring shopped in 2021.[Etsy gold infinity ring](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1029747208/?ref=share_ios_native_control)
Looks like a channel set princess (or asscher?) cut eternity band
It is considered an eternity band if the stones go all the way around the ring. Did platinum prices go up recently? Maybe consider platinum or a low karat gold as an alternative.
Edit to add: white gold needs to be rhodium plated to appear white, so that extra maintenance over the years may make platinum a better long term option.
Channel setting. It can be made anywhere. Pretty common design.
