I Just Randomly Got My Dream Ring from My Millionaire Neighbor for $400?! šāØ
Hello, gorgeous ring enthusiasts! š
I canāt contain my excitement any longerāI just scored the engagement ring of my dreams in the most unexpected way, and I have to share the details with you all!
The Backstory
So, picture this: My millionaire neighbor has been known for his impeccable taste, especially when it comes to fine jewelry. Rumor had it that his wife had an amazing collection, filled with extraordinary pieces. As fate would have it, he recently decided to downsize and part ways with a few of his treasures.
I was just casually chatting with him one afternoon, and as we discussed jewelry, he mentioned he had a stunning ring he was willing to part with for a surprisingly low priceājust $400! I couldnāt believe my ears. I mean, this guy could easily charge much more given the craftsmanship and quality of the ring.
The Ring Itself
Hereās a little bit about the ring (and yes, Iām showing off pictures because whatās a ring post without visuals?):
- Gemstone: A dazzling antique cushion-cut diamond that perfectly captures the light.
- Setting: A delicate pave band with tiny diamonds adorning both sides, adding a touch of vintage charm.
- Overall Vibe: It feels classic yet uniqueātotally my style!
Why Iām Sharing
I wanted to share my story not just to show off my new bling (but letās be honest, itās hard not to!) but to open up a conversation about incredible finds in the jewelry world. This ring is a reminder that sometimes, the best treasures come when you least expect them.

You manifested that beauty!!
Congratulations, itās stunning! Please consider getting it appraised and insured, if you have renters/homeowners and/or car insurance you can usually add it there very affordably, for example my ring (appraised at about $20k and costs $7/month to insure). Your insurer might even let you use the paperwork they gave you with the ring!
Itās GORGEOUS ENJOY IT
Sooo⦠is your millionaire neighbor still in a giving mood? Asking for a friend. š¾š
Congratulations that’s a gorgeous ring and a good story. I hope you bake him brownies or something and stay in contact. That kind of generosity should have good people in their life.
Just looked it up! That’s a 9-11k diamond! What a steal! Congrats!
That is my exact engagement ring (except specs, I don’t remember mine because it’s been 20 years, but same size stone and exact same setting), and I still love her every day! Sadly, I have to get her in to the jeweler to have the prongs redone, so I haven’t been wearing her for the last few weeks for fear of losing my stone.
his fiancĆ©ās loss is the start of your family lore for this gorgeous heirloom šāgreat great grammy lonely-ex-cult-girl got this from a neighbor for $400, which today would be $801,927 and your lunch credits for 6 monthsā š¤Iām also an emerald girlie and this one is so beautiful!!

Beautiful!!! Congrats – how fortuitous š„° since no one else has mentioned if it helps H refers to the colour (nearly colourless aka more clear / white) and VS1 means very slightly included (aka no imperfections that are visible to the naked eye) so a wonderful quality stone!

Congratulations on a dream coming true!!! I love the emerald cut too!!! Gorgeous!!
That man knew it was worth a lot more. Bless him for letting you have that!
Wear it in good health and take good care of it! Donāt ever take it off when you go out, like to wash your hands. Better a dirty ring than no ring!
>It’s 1.62 carats color H and VS1
That is a very nice stone. Is the cert. from GIA? What did they rate the cut?
1.62 carats is the weight. Different from karat, which is purity of precious metal. Anything above 1 ct is a nice size.
H is the color, or more specifically the lack thereof. I personally buy G-H color. H is near colorless to the naked eye, and to see any yellow tint, you would have to compare it to other diamonds. Some jewelers can get close by eye, but that takes decades of experience.
VS1 is a good grade, that has to do with the clarity and inclusions. SI would be slightly included. That means it is eye clean, and to see any inclusions, you would typically need 10x magnification.

Youāre my ring doppelgƤnger!! Mine was an estate ring from the 1950s. When did your neighbor have his made? This is such a crazy and wonderful story!
That’s beautiful! It’s all about who you know! Also hello from a Naples girlie š
Iām so happy for you! Sometimes good people also happen to be wealthy š
Living in the East Bay of San Francisco at the time and was driving an almost new Hyundai sedan. Quickly realised that Northern Californian traffic was all about fearful respect. Letās just say that my lovely red shiny Hyundai was unsafe to transport my them 1 year old around in thanks to extremely aggressive drivers.
Started hunting Craigslist and saw an ad for a near new Mercedes SUV. Immaculate, gorgeous, $21k so I thought it was a scam.
Turned out to be a successful entrepreneur who had bought it for his girlfriend. He explained that when they ordered it she āticked every box of options etc, and that was the start of the end of their relationshipā. All he wanted was to pay off the balance and be done. He also mentioned that they hardly used it and the back seat had never been sat in, and the boot (trunk) had never held anything more than shoe and clothes shopping. It has a cream leather interior that had not a single mark on it anywhere. Even still had the new car smell.
So the next few days I handed him $21k and drove away in a $40k+ top of the line gorgeous SUV which had not a single mark on it. He was true to his word and had the finance company send me the title free and clear.
He was a lovely bloke, devastated by realising heād been used by his former girlfriend. In his words he was āglad to be rid of it and hoped Iād enjoy it.ā Drove it for years and never cost me anything other than servicing. Sold it for not a lot less than Iād paid for it.
