Is Your Engagement Ring Making You Feel Down? Let’s Talk!

Hey everyone!

I’m coming to you today with a mix of excitement and a hint of vulnerability. I’ve been scrolling through this community, and let’s be honest, I’ve seen some absolutely stunning engagement rings that make my heart flutter. However, I’ve been feeling a bit down about my own engagement ring and set. I can’t help but think they’re just… boring. Here’s where I need your help!

The Struggle is Real

When I first got my engagement ring, I was over the moon. It felt perfect in the moment, but as time has passed, I’ve started to have some regrets. I look at the intricate designs and unique gems that so many of you have chosen, and I can’t help but feel a twinge of envy. Are these feelings common? Has anyone else ever found themselves second-guessing their ring selection?

The Importance of Understanding

I think it’s so important to remember that our engagement rings often symbolize love, commitment, and a unique moment in our lives. However, the aesthetics certainly play a big role as well. Each ring tells a story, but I wonder—does the “boredom” I’m feeling reflect a deeper dissatisfaction with my own journey?

Let’s Share Our Rings!

I’d love to see all your gorgeous engagement rings! Let’s use this space to share photos of our rings, the stories behind them, and how they make us feel. Each design has its own allure, and maybe discussing the intricacy of cuts, settings, and gemstones could shed light on our purchases—or even inspire future ones.

Some points to ponder:

  • How did you choose your engagement ring, and why did you fall in love with it?
  • Have you ever felt regret about your choice? How did you deal with those feelings?
  • What are your thoughts on customizing or upgrading rings?
  • How do different gemstones make unique statements, and what do you think suits your style?

From Regrets to Revelations

At the end of the day, it’s okay to feel a bit dissatisfied sometimes. What’s crucial is to embrace those emotions and channel them into something positive. Whether it’s investing in a new piece of jewelry, customizing your set, or simply finding more joy in what you already have, there’s a world of possibilities out there!

So, let’s discuss! I can’t wait to hear your stories, thoughts, and insights. And who knows? Maybe after looking at all your lovely rings, I’ll fall in love with my own all over again!

❤️✨ Share away, ring lovers! ✨❤️

It’s really hard when you’re engagement ring shopping because the minute you say the words engagement ring they typically start showing you just a very narrow assortment of styles. I feel ya. Are you in the return window for the band? You could totally get a more antique style looking band and it would give the whole set a different look. You may find you don’t want to wear a large stone engagement ring on a daily basis in the future anyway, so going more with a strong style in the band could be the way to go. Or resale the band for a slight loss and get a different band while you have time. And yes you can always reset the engagement ring later on too.

It’s really beautiful but you can make it more vintage looking with a new setting, a pavé band, side stones etc, for relatively little money.

You have a long, happy life ahead of you and there are always opportunities to redesign your setting or stack another band later in life. Your feelings are 100% valid but there’s also a bigger picture to look at, too.

Ultimately you’re the one that’ll be wearing it forever. If you’ve thought this much about it, then switch it up! Your person should understand.

I think it is beautiful! Timeless solitaire look but a little touch of modern with the oval stone. Mind sharing details on it if you know them? Carat wt of the solitaire? Solitaire band width? Total weight on the band?

What I’m finding is once I purchased my ring I’ve seen so many rings posted that I never considered. I started wondering if I should have gotten a different style, a different size, etc and I stopped appreciating what I have. One of the problems with social media. Your set is beautiful but I can commiserate with you.

Some jewelers have catalogs of rings and ring guards and when I got mine, I saw there were guards that were meant for ovals, pears, etc….

I love your set! Very elegant and timeless. You can still have your eternity band even if you added side stones to your engagement ring eventually. You can wear an open ring band in between your engagement ring and eternity band when you do get to upgrade your engagement ring to a trilogy (photo from google). Or have your engagement ring set a little higher so you can add a plain band in between to break up the stones a bit. I have a low setting trilogy and really wanted a band that wasn’t curved/wishbone so it looks like I’m going down the route of buying an open band too. Just to add… I think the more you look at your ring, the more “what ifs” you have. I am going through it at the moment and it’s actually sad because I chose my ring too. I love it, but I think my shank is too thin but these are things we can upgrade/change in the future. I know rings are supposed to be worn forever but I also think nowadays, rings aren’t made to last because of the quality. That’s why there’s heirlooms because they were made with amazing craftsmanship before. So don’t feel bad for wanting to change something about your ring. You can always change it in the future. For now, you should be buzzing with excitement for your upcoming nuptials. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Ultimately, “plain/boring” means timeless. But I understand! However, there’s no reason you have to add cost for your fiancé. He bought you the ring you wanted, and there’s nothing wrong with you paying to add what you want to make yourself happy

Add a funky colored stone band. Look to non traditional brands for inspo, like marrow. You can spice that set up so easily. I personally love it and went with a similar style for my first engagement ring and my wedding band is the same in gold. I went with something a little more fun for my upgrade (open bezel) and I’ll probably do a different shape for the next upgrade down the road. You’re not stuck forever!

I think it’s Beautiful 😍and goes together very well – I just showed it to my husband- we have 1 1/2 carat round that won’t stay up – keeps rolling over to bottom of my finger- so we are going to look at oval or marquis. And my band is round diamonds just like yours.. It’s Beautiful!!!

I love this, it looks a lot like my set. We actually spent extra money to get the band to sit flush with the ring, that really bothered me. I don’t think your set is boring, I think it’s elegant and timeless and will transcend all trends.

I got married at 22 and was more excited about getting married than what my set looked like. Had small regrets regarding my set, but we did what we could at that time. I didn’t care knowing I had my whole marriage in front of me and milestones to upgrade later. Now 6 years married and I sometimes picture my upgrade, but I’m very attached to the set I have. It’s seen all our ups and downs, it’s in all our pictures, it’s a part of me. It became less about the look of the ring and more about the memories and time spent that the diamond now holds. Hope that helps. 🙂

I love how classic it is! Maybe add another band that has a more antique vibe? Either when you get married or an anniversary or bday? I had a bit of the same feeling as you and I added a more unique band to my stack and got a cool travel ring and now I mix and max them depending on mood and occasion

Add a band from La More Design in NY. That’s where I got mine! Or really just play around with adding styled bands.

My rings are similar- I love them and get compliments all the time. Everyone should get exactly what they want but I personally feel in a few years I’ll be glad with how simple mine are!

My mom has a very plain set and my dad bought her a vintage inspired diamond and sapphire stacking ring she puts between her e-ring and wedding band and I tell you it changed the entire look!

Kind of like this but even thinner.

Yr Ering is stunning enjoy yr life together & as time passes you’ll be amazed how beautiful the rings suit you. I’m a mature lady when I got engaged I had an 18ct white gold natural diamond Ering with four round bezel set on either side of the shank, then wedder & eternity ring. My mom passed away years ago & I inherited some of her & my grandmother’s rings so I was in a conundrum what to do having a total of 8 rings all 18 carat gold white/yellow. I took them to a jeweller & he redesigned all 8 into 3 (no CAD drawings available), just a design in pencil & trust in the jeweller. Life happens while you’re busy planning what to do & how you’ll go along.
I don’t wear those rings now b/c they’re too precious & I have a tanzanite & diamond pear halo in platinum & a bezel diamond V Ering & plain wedder. I learned the hard way that white gold needs re-rhodium plating every few years which became a PIA. My original wedder had a pattern on the edge which wore off & could not be redone all my original rings were made by a manufacturing jeweller whom you couldn’t get into w/out an appt, elevator ride & them buzzed through security doors.

Comparison is the thief of joy, think of the love & sentiments within that ring between yourself & fiancé. When yr more established as a couple & achieved some life goals etc., you may wish to redesign yr Ering. The ring is a WOW factor & stunning plus elongates yr finger. Congratulations to both of you moving forward in life. Sending blessings fr 😘💐🇦🇺🐨🦘

I think you could easily take the diamonds out of your wedding band and reset them in a custom band that feels more like your personality. You already have the expensive part!

For what it’s worth this ring is so timeless. It will never date itself. I understand what you mean about feeling basic and maybe it doesn’t feel like your style.

I got an oval engagement ring with pave band and felt the same so I got a more unique style band. Instantly it felt more like me!!

Pro tip from a jeweler…. the top of your stack is where you should have some fun!!

A classic engagement ring and wedding band are SO easy to pair with a ton of fun fashion bands without looking off or ‘too much’. If you went more bold for your forever rings, your taste may change down the line 🤷‍♀️

You can score a ton of really cute silver and diamond bands online for cheap and switch out what accessory band u add each day depending on if ur going for classy, boho, sleek, vintage, etc. . If u keep a polish cloth at home, nobody will know its sterling silver when its been polished up 🤷‍♀️

Im 100% guilty of buying etsy silver rings to put with my real gold and plat bands from work…. if I ever get married, I’ll probably dedicate a whole jewelry box drawer to my silver stacking rings so I can jazz up my wedding stack differently all the time
