Is My Ring Too ‘Gaudy’? Let’s Spark a Discussion!
Hey everyone!
I wanted to pop in and share my engagement ring, but I’ve been grappling with a thought that I think many of us might relate to: Is my ring too ‘gaudy’?
Show Off Your Bling!
First, here’s a glimpse of my beautiful engagement ring!
[Insert Photo of Ring Here]
Show-stopping, right? But as much as I adore it, I can’t help but wonder if I crossed the line from ‘elegant’ to ‘over the top’. The intricate detailing, the sheer size of the stone, and the way it sparkles in any light makes it undeniably striking.
What Makes a Ring ‘Gaudy’?
This raises an important question: What defines gaudiness in jewelry? Is it purely subjective, based on individual taste, or are there common elements that we can point to? Here are a few thoughts:
-
Size of the Gemstone: Larger stones can often be perceived as gaudy, especially when they’re not set in a way that complements them.
-
Intricacy of the Design: Overly complicated settings or too many embellishments can sometimes overshadow the beauty of the centerpiece.
-
Color Choices: Bold, vibrant colors might feel out of place for some, while others might see them as vibrant and eye-catching.
-
Personal Style: Ultimately, a ring that feels gaudy to one person might be a perfect fit for another, depending on their style and personality.
Let’s Talk About Perspectives!
This is why I’m reaching out to all of you! I want to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic. A few questions to get the conversation started:
- Do you think there’s such a thing as a ‘gaudy’ engagement ring? Why or why not?
- What factors influence your judgment when it comes to jewelry?
- How do you balance personal taste with societal standards?
Share Your Own Rings!
And, of course, I encourage everyone to share pictures of your own engagement rings! Whether they are big, small, minimalist, or extravagant, we’d love to see them!
Let’s create a space where we can celebrate the beauty of engagement rings in all their forms without judgment. Your ring is an expression of your love and commitment, and that’s truly what matters most!
Looking forward to an exciting discussion—let’s see where this conversation takes us!
❤️✨

I love that, my birthday is October 59th weird you’re is September 39th

I love having the sapphires in my set. Yours is stunning!
I like it, but try on some bands with stones on thr sides to see how it feels. I was designing something similar, but during a jeweler appt I put on a similar eternity band and was so perturbed by how uncomfortable it was!! So just check.
I love it, but the center stone setting is a little too high, you might easily damage it. Could it be set a little lower? The combination of diamonds and sapphire is gorgeous.
I don’t think it’s gaudy, but if it was me I would remove the stones at 9 o clock and 3 o clock to make it more comfortable. It’s also pretty high set, so make sure that’s what you’re wanting!

I LOVE YOUR RING!!! Mine is so so dirty right now and I’m not at home to clean it but I wanted to show you mine. I wish I had seen yours 10 years ago because I LOVE it. It’s beautiful. The details are very nice.
Look carefully at if the stones at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock will run against your fingers.
Does whoever created this CAD order a resin model for you? I designed a ring last year and loved the first mock up of the CAD. The jeweler always orders a resin model for the customer to get a better idea of what it will look like. That helped me tweak a few things, got another resin model and love the final product. It was a huge help! If I went with the initial design I would have been so disappointed and out a lot money!
It’s very beautiful, not gaudy at all!
If you are worried it’s gaudy a sapphire and diamond wedding band is a great choice AND wears beautifully on its own
Not at all!!!
I think it’s an absolutely stunning piece and not at all gaudy..
Nothing is too gaudy!!! Design the ring of your dreams!
Love engagement rings that are a little different, or unique. I think it’s beautiful, and you will most likely get a lot of positive comments, because of that. I’m a September lady too, September 8th 💙💙
I gave a similar ring with a one ct and with a slightly lower setting with a matching band …
I love it!!
My band is substantial enough to wear alone.
You have a beautiful ring!!
Pretty to wear on occasion but it’s too busy for me to wear everyday. You’re the one wearing it though. I’d go for a diamond solitaire and put the sapphires in a wedding band.
As long as you love the design, that’s all that matters! If you worry it’s too much for you, personally, then that is a different story. You could always do smaller melee sapphires around the hidden halo instead or do all diamonds for your engagement ring and opt to pair with a sapphire wedding band. Go with what makes you the happiest 💙
I love it ! My bday is in Sept too! Love sapphires and diamonds ❤️
Get exactly what makes your heart sing or you will regret it and always want more! Go for it!!
Personally for me it is a bit much, but I wouldn’t consider this as gaudy!
GAWD! No!
I love it! It’s beautiful and so meaningful! Please update when you get it and congratulations!! 🎊🎉
Not at all. It’s very pretty and I would totally be into that as well. 🥰
Pretty. Very high setting. Are you someone who does a lot with their hands? Might get a bit annoying if so or require you to take it off fairly often.
No! I love the idea of the Sapphires in the band. My birthstone is Sapphire too and I wish I had incorporated it in my ring somehow.
Not at all!! My engagement ring is a 3.5 ct radiant solitaire and we just bought my wedding band…alternating sapphires and diamonds!! I love the colored stones and I think it’s so classic.
Ope, my birthday is September 30th his is the 29th my bad. 😅
