I just had to share a recent conundrum I find myself in—one that I’m sure many of you might relate to! As I proudly show off my engagement ring, I can’t help but notice the particular gap between my ring and the band. Is it a horrid flaw, or is it something I can absolutely pull off?

This is a no for me, they don’t go together even in the slightest. Physically or visually. Better off seeing if there was a band that goes with this ring or going custom.

I think it looks rough. I had a similar preference, so my wedding ring is plain solid gold but much much smaller. that way it stacks nicely with my engagement, but also looks nice as a simple band if im not wearing my engagement ring.
Tbh I think it looks whack. If you want to wear the cigar band on the left and wear your e ring on the right you can do that. But I wouldn’t wear it like this. Not just bc of the gap but also just I feel the styles clash.
I think if you want to wear it stacked, you should have a band custom grooved/carved out made for your e ring
If it were me, I’d wear the engagement ring on my right hand and keep the simple wedding band on my left so I’m still wearing both but not stacking them.
I love a gap between an ER and wedding band! Buuuut the rings do not complement each other. Mixed metals, different scales, gap- all good, but this is kinda too much and they don’t look intentional as a set. I know you don’t want a dainty ring, but something a *little* slimmer wouldn’t overpower your ER so much
Both rings are lovely, truly, but it’s not the best as a duo
It does look wack honestly. But, reconsider why you didn’t want a custom band with space carved out to fit your e-ring, is it because you wanted to be able to wear each on its own? Because if you’re feeling like you don’t want to put your e-ring away and will probably never wear your band by itself realistically, are you just holding onto your original idea without a purpose? I’ve seen a thickkkk gold band with space perfectly carved out to sit with the engagement ring on here before and it was really nice, not decorative or dainty at all.
It’s not nice to look at that’s for sure lol it takes away from the beauty of your engagement ring
Your rings are beautiful individually, but not together. Maybe go try on curved bands and see if any will work with your ring

The gap isn’t an issue, it looks off because the band is too thick and the gold doesn’t match. Try a smaller plain band in the same shade of gold
I think that band doesn’t match with the ring. Have you checked out the rings with the open space? That may be an option so the engagement could fit into it better. Your ring is beautiful. I got a new ring just recently so I’m dealing with the gap issue with my original wedding bands.
They don’t match or compliment each other, and though contrast can be lovely, these just aren’t a good look together at all. If you dont want to wear your ER on your opposite hand, I’d get one custom made for the ER, have them soldered, and wear your “dream band” as a separate piece when you don’t want to wear jewels.

I don’t mind the gap. My engagement and wedding band do the same thing. But the rings don’t really go together IMO.
I really wanted a straight band, my grandmother’s band, and it doesn’t fit with my engagement ring. Went with a v band and now I love it.
It’ll drive you nuts with the gap I think.

I’d go for a much thinner wedding band tbh
Yeah it’s whack – either wear the wedding band or the ring. Or if you can get less thick/wide wedding band. It would look nicer, the one you’re wearing is too wide. It clashes with the engagement ring.
They are both very nice just clashes together.
You may need a curved or chevron band. My engagement ring has a low setting, and a round band didn’t sit well with it (big gap) so I chose a chevron band.

It makes everything look lopsided
you can just wear them on either hand. i didnt choose an engagement ring and wedding band that go together so i just wear them on different hands, i feel like wearing them together on the same finger is kind of a newer trend anyways
Could you get a band that’s not as wide? Keep this band and wear as everyday ring
I’d be less worried about the look and more worried about the damage you are going to cause to the basket of your engagement ring wearing them like this. I second the comments that say you could maybe have the band notched to fit snug but I suspect you’re going to need to buy a thicker cigar band to have enough material to carve the notch into. Can I see some pictures of the side profile of the engagement ring?
I think both rings are beautiful but do not go together. Could you get something like this for the band to better complement your ring?

Girl noooo, the rings do not go together at all. It’s so bad
Honestly ring gaps NEVER look good in a top down photo but they might look good in life, because life isn’t still images where we scrutinize every mm.
Sort of like when cat wing eyeliner doesn’t exactly match or isn’t sharp, that doesn’t super matter in person, the general effect matters.
I recommend: wear it around for a few days and look in the mirror how a person around you might see your hands and then decide. Or take photos from like a full arm length away, with background, to see if you like it in context
This looks awful. I opted for a band with a gap in it to accommodate the length and low profile of the stone. unfortunately I can’t add a photo here to give an example.
Going against the grain here. I think those golds are the same color but the lighting and curves from the engagement band make it appear yellower just because more surface area is catching light. The styles are not a huge mismatch but in my opinion the gap plus the delicate to not delicate is a big jump. I think a gap band or a custom plane band to go in between would make it look less jarring.
All that said it’s your finger and I’d never think about this beyond complimenting your engagement ring which is beautiful.
